Most of the people in Jamdaha and the surrounding area live from agriculture. Naturally, the people follow the rhythmic cycle of land cultivation and harvest time. Rice, wheat, vegetables, mustard and tropical fruits (i.e. mango, papaya etc.) are among the most important goods in Jamdaha. In Jamdaha you will find people cultivating in traditional ways as well as processing the harvested goods locally, for example in nearby rice, wheat and sugar cane mills.
PremSEVA is supporting some villagers in cultivating rice, wheat, mustard and a great variety of vegetables and fruits, herbs and spices, including papayas, mangos, potatoes, tomatoes, coriander, spinach, lentils, ginger etc. The long-term aim is that village families become self-sustainable.
The village land is fertile, and fruits and plants such as rice, grains, wheat, aubergines, mango etc. grow there. Most of the land in the village, together with the village temple, is owned by a temple Trust (which statues say that land cannot be sold, but belongs to the community) and therefore Jamdaha village has prospects for small-scale horticulture to the benefits of the villagers. The cultivation of rice, wheat and mustard gives employment to villagers, as well as providing the village project with an extra source of income.
